CODE OF ETHICS

Adopted Sept. 2006

 

 

As members in good standing of Valley Home Builders Association, we believe in and accept the responsibilities and obligations inherent in providing housing and its related infrastructure. Basic to these ethics beliefs, we support the following objectives:

 

  1. To conduct businesses affairs with professionalism.
  2. To provide the best housing value possible.
  3. To protect the consumer through the use of appropriate materials and construction practices.
  4. To build and renovate homes to adequate standards of health, safety and sanitation.
  5. To meet all financial obligations in a responsible manner.
  6. To comply with the spirit and letter of business contracts and deal fairly with employees, subcontractors, suppliers and other members.
  7. To keep informed and support the Association regarding public policies and other essential information which affect our business interests, those of the building industry and the people we serve.
  8. To comply with the rules and regulations prescribed by law and government agencies for health, safety and welfare of the community.
  9. To keep honesty as our guiding business policy.
  10. To respect and promote the Association’s mission, purposes and activities and to refrain from acting in any manner that detracts from the Association’s mission, purposes and activities.
  11. To refrain from acting in any manner that creates public confusion or misunderstanding regarding the mission, purposes or activities of the Association (including false, misleading or conflicting advertising or other false, misleading or conflicting public statements or activities.)
  12. To not obtain any business through fraudulent means, knowing acts of omission or by use of implications unwarranted by fact or reasonable probability.
  13. To not engage in copyright infringement.
  14. To provide a minimum of a one-year warranty effective from initial occupancy of new construction or accepted completion of remodeling project. (This does not pertain to products which carry their own warranties.)
  15. To provide timely response to items covered under warranty.
  16. To arbitrate disputes involving any real estate or construction related business interest in which the member has an ownership interest.
  17. To support and abide by the decisions of the association in promoting and enforcing this Code of Ethics. 

Members assume the responsibilities in this Code of Ethics freely and solemnly and are mindful that these responsibilities are requirements of members of Valley Home Builders Association.

 

We also believe that home ownership should be within reach of all Americans.

Finally, because we hold inviolate the free enterprise system and American way of life, we pledge our support to our fellow members, our local, state and national associations and all related industries concerned with the preservation of inalienable rights and freedoms.
